The Association of Anaesthetists of Malta (AAM) recently participated in Science in the City, which brought together people of all ages to demonstrate how science affects every aspect of life. AAM took this opportunity to showcase to the public the role of the anaesthetist. From anaesthetic trainees to consultants, all levels of expertise were actively involved in the preparations and presentations. Airway mannequins were used to teach the public bag mask ventilation. Even young child attempted airway techniques! People had the opportunity to listen to real human heart and breath sounds with stethoscopes. Different airway adjuncts and oxygen masks were on display in order to help the public familiarize themselves with medical equipment in the hopes that the hospital setting will be less ...

The AAM would like to congratulate Team Malta for their outstanding result in winning the CPR completion held by the European Resuscitation Council. The competition was held during the last week of September and the final was won on Saturday 30t h September 2017. Well done to the team. You made us proud! Fellowship of the European Resuscitation Council The AAM is pleased to announce that one of its members was awarded a Fellowship of the European Resuscitation Council. We would like to congratulate Dr. Tanya Esposito and thank her for the work and effort she puts into organising the various resuscitation courses in Malta. Congratulations Tanya.

Euroanaesthesia 2016 saw one of our members Dr. PetraMay Attard Cortis being awarded the Young Teaching Recognition Award. This is an important and rewarding achievement in her career. Well done for her excellent presentation 'A Hint of Fear - The Obstetric Airway'. PetraMay's success makes our association proud of its contribution to the training of young anaesthetists in Malta.
